Open source licenses
Which free software our tools use, the license it comes under and where to get the source code for exactly the version we ship.
Our tools use free software written by other developers. This page lists every component your browser loads from us, with its version, license and copyright holders. For each one you’ll find the source code for exactly the version we ship. We also host the most important archives ourselves.
HEIC decoder
These components unpack HEIC photos in browsers that can’t open the format themselves. Your browser only loads them when you convert a HEIC photo.

- Emscripten runtime 3.1.61 is part of libheif-js and available under either the MIT license or the University of Illinois/NCSA Open Source License. Copyright Emscripten authors. Source code on GitHub (tag 3.1.61), license text in LICENSE.
The LGPL-3.0 builds on the GPL-3.0. You’ll find the full text of both here: GNU LGPL-3.0 and GNU GPL-3.0.
We ship the files libheif.js and libheif.wasm unchanged from the libheif-js package. You can replace both together with your own build of libheif that offers the same JavaScript interface. Our own code only calls libheif through that interface.
WebP encoder
Safari doesn’t produce WebP through a canvas. In that case your browser loads a separate encoder the first time you export a WebP.
