The tools in this category work with and create PDF files inside your browser. Your documents stay on your device. That matters a lot with PDFs, because they often hold contracts, bank statements or job applications.

Splits a PDF into several files, either by page ranges such as “1-3, 5, 8-” or one file per page. Your browser writes the parts itself, so the file is not uploaded.
Turns one or more images into a PDF with one page per image. The tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC from the iPhone, and you choose the order, page size and margin. Your browser creates the PDF, so your images are never uploaded.
Turns each page of a PDF into a JPG image, at 72, 150 or 300 dpi. You convert all pages or only some, such as “2” or “1-3”. Your browser renders the pages itself, so the PDF is not uploaded.

Background
A PDF is made of pages with text, images and fonts. Merging and splitting keep these pages as they are. Text stays searchable, and images are not compressed again. “Convert JPG to PDF” turns photos and scans into a new PDF with one page per image. “Convert PDF to JPG” and “Convert PDF to PNG” go the other way. They turn each page into an image in which text can no longer be selected.
PDFs with a password are not accepted. Merging and splitting also reject every other encrypted PDF, even one that only restricts editing, printing or copying. “Convert PDF to JPG” and “Convert PDF to PNG” reject PDFs whose author blocked printing or copying, while a restriction on editing alone is no problem there. Remove the protection in your PDF app first. The tools check the contents of a file to tell whether it really is a PDF or an image, so a renamed file is spotted right away.
How much your browser can handle at once depends on the device. iPhone and iPad have tighter limits than a computer. Each tool lists its exact limits on its page.
